I’ve always loved pictures of little pathways.
You know the ones. A narrow trail winding through the trees, perhaps with a little sunlight filtering through the branches. And just ahead, the path curves out of sight.
You can’t see where it leads.
And that’s exactly what I love about it.
There’s something about not knowing what’s around the next bend that makes me want to keep walking. Maybe there’s a beautiful meadow waiting on the other side. Maybe another winding trail. Or maybe something I never would have imagined.
I think life is a lot like that.
In fact, I think it would be rather sad if we could see the entire path laid out before us. Where would the adventure be in that? The unexpected discoveries? Those wonderful little surprises that make us stop and smile?
Of course, I’ve traveled down a few paths I wouldn’t have chosen for myself. Some have been beautiful, some have been difficult, and others have changed me in ways I’m still discovering.
But through it all, I’ve come to appreciate that life isn’t just about reaching a destination. There’s so much to be discovered along the way.
And lately, I’ve found myself rediscovering something I once loved so much. Writing.
Not that I ever really stopped. I’ve always been one to put my thoughts on paper. But somewhere along the way, life got busy, other things took priority, and my little corner called Coffee and a Typewriter grew quiet.
And now, here I am again. Coffee cup in hand, fingers on the keyboard, and a heart full of thoughts just waiting to find their way into words.
It’s funny how God sometimes opens an old door in a brand-new way.
I’m not quite the same gal who first sat down to write all those years ago. I’ve lived a little more life. I’ve laughed, cried, celebrated, grieved, learned, and grown. Some experiences have brought more joy than I could have imagined, while others have left their marks on my heart. But each season has shaped me in some way, and I know there’s still so much more to discover.
But the love of writing? That’s still here.
There’s something that makes me so happy about taking a thought that’s been wandering around in my head and somehow finding the words to give it a place on paper.
Sometimes those thoughts are silly little observations about everyday life. Sometimes they’re things God has been quietly stirring in my heart. And sometimes they’re simply moments I don’t want to forget.
And maybe, somewhere out there, someone will read something I’ve written and think, Oh, I know what that feels like.
I love that thought.
Because for just a moment, even if we’ve never met, there’s a connection. Almost like two friends sitting across the kitchen table, coffee cups in hand, sharing a little piece of life together.
I don’t know where this little writing adventure will lead. I don’t have a grand plan or a list of things I hope to accomplish. And you know what? I’m perfectly okay with that.
One of the sweetest things about this season of my life is realizing there’s still so much to discover. About the world around me. About the people God places in my path. About myself. And especially about the God who sees me, knows me so deeply, and continues to reveal more of Himself along the way.
I love that He knows what’s around the next bend, even when I don’t.
And I love that I don’t have to know.
So, here I am. Coffee’s on, the keyboard is waiting, and I’m ready to see where this little path takes me.
Maybe you’ll come along for the walk.
Something tells me there’s still a whole lot of life waiting to be discovered around the next bend.
Simply,
Cindy 💛
